I Need Your Help!
Greetings! This is an invitation for all female-identified activists who are employed in the Animal Advocacy Movement (AAM) in Canada or the United States.
As some of you may know, I am working on my Social Sciences doctorate. My research focuses on exploring the work experiences of activists who are female-identified within the AAM.
Through listening to the stories of your job experiences, and combining those with deep research on matters of non-profit governance, I am hoping to create vital information to aid in the shaping of policy recommendations that I hope will support and ensure the long-term success of the AAM.
To qualify as a participant you will need to:
· Identify as female,
· Be employed (or recently employed) as an activist in Canada or the US,
· Be 18 years of age or older,
· Be able to communicate in English, and
· Have access to the Internet as all of the interviews will be taking place via Zoom (a free downloadable program).
I also wanted to share with you that this research has been reviewed for ethical compliance and has received clearance by the Royal Roads University Research Ethics Board.
If you are interested in participating, I would kindly ask that you please complete a brief demographic survey which can be found here.
If selected to participate my research, I will also send you an Informed Consent Form which explains more about the research and your rights as a participant as well as what you can expect if you agree to participate. I am happy to review that with you or answer any questions you may have about my research.
While there is more information about my research both within the demographic survey and on the Informed Consent Form, I did want to emphasize that all information you provide will be completely anonymous and kept confidential.
Also, if you choose to participate, you may withdraw your participation at any time during the interview process. You will also have the opportunity to review and edit your interview transcripts so that you feel comfortable with them and to ensure I have accurately captured your story. Once you have approved your transcripts, however, you may no longer withdraw because through my analysis, your information will become part of a larger data set and it will not be possible to know who provided what information.
I also wanted to share with you that I anticipate that the total time commitment will be approximately four hours which will be split into two interviews, a few emails back and forth between us, and your reviewing your own transcripts.
If you know anyone else who might be interested in participating, please feel free to share this information with them.
Thank you so much for your time and consideration.
If you have questions or would like more details, please contact me directly via my Contact page or at (416) 666-3093 (call or text).
Once again, here is a link to the demographic survey.
